     Reed was born Apr 4, 1924, Tuscarora Township, Bradford, Pennsylvania.
     He was married to Shirley Mae Whipple on Nov 4, 1943.

     They moved to Fort Ann, New York.
     In Mar 2, 1943 he enlisted to the Air Corps.

     In 1943 he arrived in England to join the 401st BG.
     His last mission, Apr 29, 1944, Target: Berlin, A/C weaved around after apparently being hit by flak.
     It then joined another formation until it was lost sight of.

     He was awarded with an Air Medal and a Purple Heart Medal.

     In 1944, when Reed died on the age of 20 he left behind his family :

         His father, William Brotzman, age 47
         His mother, Geneva Brotzman, age 43
         His sister, Eloise Brotzman, age 25
         His brother, William Brotzman, age 24
         His brother, Ward Brotzman, age 22
         His sister, Rhea Brotzman, age 17
         His sister, Kathryn Brotzman, age 14
         His sister, Regina Brotzman, age 11

         His wife, Shirley Mae Brotzman, age 19




Mission to Berlin, Germany, # 2 engine hit by flak, It then joined another formation until it was lost sight of.
Crashed near Leers, France / Belgium border





     The plane was hit and the controls were shot out and cockpit set afire by 20 mm cannon from six FW-190's.
     It is believed that Reed was injured too badly.
     The French underground, Mr E. Guilbert, found his body in the plane.

     He was buried at the community cemetery Lille (France) in the South English Section, grave no 2.
     Reed flew 3 missions.
